Welcome to the new Glasgow Ice Centre page.

We are here to keep you all up to date with key developments in our progress towards building a brand new multi-sport ice rink in Glasgow.

Following the closure of the Braehead Curling Rink, a group of curlers came together to explore options to build a new centre for both curling and ice skating in the Greater Glasgow area. We’ve looked at lots of potential locations, funding sources, and operational partners. After months of research and analysis, we are happy to recommend that we should build a brand new multi-purpose ice rink, or convert an existing building to suit our needs.

This new facility will offer an ice rink for skating and curling, provide office accommodation and space for a new curling museum. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop these amazing sports that we love in our local community.

We have considered a number of organisations to be our professional advisers and partners. Our first step is to commission a full-scale Feasibility Study to determine the full details, costs and logistics of this project. Our chosen consultant for this stage is IPW (https://ipw3.com).

We are also delighted to announce that Glasgow Ice Centre is progressing towards being registered as a SCIO - a “Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation”.

Our inaugural Trustees are Alan Hannah, Liz Burton-King and Lauren Gray. Bios coming soon.
