Dear Braehead Members,
Curling after Braehead – the way forward
I hope you’re all keeping safe during this period of uncertainty and all looking forward to hopefully returning to curling in the autumn.
The Steering Group have been busy over the lockdown period and I would like to thank them all for their efforts which has led to us being able to identify the next steps as follows:
- Our application to establish a SCIO (Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation) is under consideration and we hope to become a registered charity over the coming weeks. Details of our SCIO name to be released shortly.
- We have selected our preferred consultant, IPW Ltd, to carry out a comprehensive Feasibility Study which will provide us with options on our way forward.
- We are about to launch our fundraising campaign to raise a £40,000 fighting fund. This is the amount required to cover front end project costs, in particular the cost of the Feasibility Study which amounts to £33,000 inclusive of VAT and Expenses.
After careful consideration the Steering Group have concluded that the new facility should be a permanent solution, not temporary due to the high levels of abortive costs this route will likely incur.
Over the coming days and weeks, you will see a number of initiatives as we drive forward our work to deliver a new home for ice sports in Glasgow.
Should anyone have any questions please do not hesitate to drop me a line.
